Information we use
When you sign in or create an account, we process your username and password. Passwords for accounts created in TechPrep are stored on our server as salted password hashes, not in plain text. We store an authentication token on your device to keep you signed in.
If you provide a resume or job description, they are saved in your browser or desktop app's local storage. You may also type interview questions and choose to capture audio. Audio is captured only after you start listening and grant the required permission. The app sends audio chunks to our server for transcription; it does not upload the captured video track. Transcripts, questions, your resume and job description, and up to two recent question-and-answer turns may be sent to generate a response.
How information is processed
Our server sends audio to OpenAI for transcription and sends interview questions, relevant transcripts, resume and job description text, and recent conversation context to OpenAI to produce answers. OpenAI processes information under its own privacy policy. Hosting and operating the service also involves our cloud hosting provider, Amazon Web Services. We use this information to provide the assistant, authenticate users, limit abusive requests, and maintain the service. We do not use your microphone or system audio unless you activate capture. Only record other people with their permission.
Storage and retention
Account records are stored on the server until removed on request. Rate-limit records use hashed identifiers and expire automatically. The server does not intentionally save uploaded audio, transcripts, resumes, job descriptions, or generated answers as account records; it processes them for the request. Resume and job description text, the authentication token, and app preferences remain in local storage on your device until you clear the site's or app's storage. Recent question-and-answer context and the current transcript are kept in app memory for the session, not saved as account history. Operational logs and server backups may be retained for service maintenance; OpenAI's retention practices are described in its privacy policy.
Your choices and requests
You can stop audio capture at any time and clear locally saved information by clearing TechPrep's site or app data on your device. Signing out removes your local authentication token but does not delete your server account. To request access to or deletion of your server account data, email natraj22varma2@gmail.com. We may need to confirm that the request comes from the account holder. Requests for data held by OpenAI may also be subject to OpenAI's policies.
Security and changes
We use HTTPS for data in transit and restrict access to server-side account records. No online service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy as TechPrep changes; the date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
